Samples of concrete used in the footer for the eastern bridge support is collected for testing. Each sample is load tested to measure the amount of pressure required for it to fail. The tests make sure the poured concrete meets the engineering specifications.
The cylindrical samples are load tested from the top. The rectangular samples are tested with pressure across the length of the concrete.
