West Street Detour Construction

The Detour Has A Detour

by Gary Gardiner on July 7, 2010

It’s only five days until Main Street is closed both direction for replacement of the bridge over Alum Creek. Drivers are being instructed to take a detour around the construction that will lead them onto West Street. The only problem is West Street is closed until work crews finish installation of new drainage pipes.

The pipes are being set under the roadway where new drainage pipes from athletic fields for St. Paul Catholic Church are planned. Existing pipe has to be connected to a new manhole installation and the road repaired before Monday’ scheduled closing of the Main Street Bridge.

In the photo above, a concrete saw is cutting existing underground pipes that will tie into a new underground connector.
